I have a Border Collie of 18 months and despite having dogs all of my life, and also working on a farm. Pip was proving a challenge to me to the point I was in despair.
Our sessions with Angela have changed all of that! It’s important to say that probably the biggest lesson I have learned so far is understanding things from Pip’s point of view. That there is a reason behind everything, and that positive reinforcement does work!
I have gone from having a dog that would rarely come to recall, and had some dangerous issues such as chasing cars. Angela has in effect taught me how to communicate with Pip, and thus the bond between Pip and I has grown so much that we now have fun and loving interaction rather than stress and worry for me, and it most likely wasn’t much fun for Pip before either.
Angela goes above and beyond on every count. Whether it’s in a class environment or individual sessions. She has such a natural way with dogs but uniquely with people too. Never harsh or judgemental, always supportive and encouraging and always going that bit further to ensure I understand and never feel rushed, always happy to answer any questions or talk through any problems that I have.
Angela, before coming to you I even questioned if I was the right person for Pip. Now, every interaction that Pip and I have is positive and fun and thanks to you- Pip and I are both enjoying our lives now. And I’m excited for all the things we have lined up in the near future. It’s a wonderful feeling to know I have a happy dog. Thank you!.”

“Our 1-1 sessions with Angela have enabled Blue to grow up into an extremely well mannered and sociable dog. Through reward based training and the invaluable use of a clicker he has learnt a variety of excellent behaviours including walking to heel and being able to relax when new people come into his home.
Angela listens and approaches training with understanding and patience and I will continue to recommend her when people comment on what a lovely well behaved dog Blue is.”

“Dear Angela, I have just returned from a ‘lead-free’ walk from our house – through the fields and woods, accompanied by two beautifully behaved dogs!! They came when called, sat for their treats, swam in the river and were a joy. This is thanks to you helping us and I thought you would like to know of their progress! Thank you SO much for all you did to help. Why did we wait 7 years!!”

“Someone at my local vets was recommending Polite Paws to another client, and I overheard the conversation. This directed me to Polite Paws’ Facebook page and to Angela. I contacted Angela for a 1-2-1 training session as my concern was that my husband’s way of training a dog was in complete contradiction to mine – poor Ozzy was getting quite confused. Having the private session with Angela did the trick, and her advice was incredibly helpful and set us up to deal with those first few weeks with a new puppy. We then took Ozzy to puppy class and he loved it. The classes are well planned and followed up by very helpful handouts. We now have a puppy that we can recall, who obeys the ‘leave’ and the ‘stay’ commands and so much more. Our success with Ozzy is down to the skill of Angela’s training and us then practicing what we were taught. We will be using Polite Paws again – definitely! I would recommend Polite Paws in a heartbeat! “

“Angela delivers a well organised, comprehensive and effective set of lessons on training your puppy. I also booked our Labradoodle Maisy onto another set of lessons (with a different company) that ran over the same weeks as the Polite Paws course (as I wished to be very focused in establishing the best behaviour from the outset – for both myself and Maisy) ….. and there is no doubt that Angela’s approach was most effective and well worth the additional travel time to get there from Godalming – and I am now looking forward to the next stage of lessons so that we can continue with fun, effective learning.
Angela also took time to address any questions, and suggest solutions, that individuals had about their pets training ….. she is passionate, caring and knowledgeable about her mission!! A very worthwhile experience …. and life changing for Maisy and me. ”
“Angela is just great! She popped round to ours for a 1-2-1 and our rescue lurcher Olive took to her immediately. Olive had terrible problems with other dogs, being completely under socialised when we adopted her. If she spotted a dog in the distance she would lunge and become completely fixated in “getting to that dog”. Whilst she never showed any aggression towards the other dogs, being a big girl she actually pulled me over a couple of times and was very difficult to control. Angela showed us how to build up positive association with other dogs and slowly building up the introduction of more dogs (we started with a stuffed toy haha), and now Olive is really well behaved on the lead. She still tries to get to other dogs but her fixation is much easier to break and she never looses control like she did before. She now even ignores dogs on the other side of the road! There’s still a way to go with our Olive, but Angela got us on just the right track. Thanks so much x”
